HON. JUSTICE A. A. ADERIBIGBE

Biography

Hon. Justice Dr. Adeyinka Adebayo Aderibigbe, (Ph.D, MICMC) was born on 7th day of December, 1967. He is from Iwo in Iwo Local Government, Osun West Senatorial District of Osun State. He had his Primary School education at Baptist Primary School, Ajasse-Ipo, Kwara State from 1973 to 1979. For his Secondary Education, he attended: Oro Grammar School, Oro, Kwara State (1979 – 1980); Anglican Grammar School, Orita-mefa, Ibadan, Oyo State (1980 – 1982) and Oluponna High School, Oluponna-Iwo, Oyo State (now Osun State) (1982 – 1984).

He obtained his Bachelor of Laws (LL.B Hons.) degree from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Nigeria in 1988 and a Barrister at Law (B.L) from Nigerian Law School, Victoria Island, Lagos in 1990. His Lordship later returned to Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Nigeria where he obtained his Master of Laws (LL.M) in 2003, Master of Philosophy in Law (M.Phil) in 2014 and Doctor of Philosophy in Law (Ph.D) in 2019.

For his work experience, he started as Legal Officer II at Oyo State Ministry of Justice from 1st February 1991 to 27th August, 1991. When Osun State was created on 27th August, 1991 he moved to Osun State Ministry of Justice where he rose through the ranks to become the Acting Solicitor-General and Permanent Secretary on 10th May, 2005. He was elevated to the Osun State High Court bench on 13th March, 2006 and has served in Ikirun, Osogbo, Ejigbo and Ile-Ife Judicial Divisions. He is presently the Administrative Judge in Ilesa Judicial and he also covers Ijebu-Jesa Judicial Division.

In his capacity as a Judge of the Osun State High Court, His Lordship has performed other judicial functions including: Member of the Election Petitions Tribunal in Akwa Ibom State in 2007 and Chairman, National and State Houses of Assembly Election Petitions Tribunal (Panel l) in Abia State in 2019.

On 1st December, 2020, His Lordship obtained the certificate and was admitted to membership of Institute of Chartered Mediators and Conciliators ICMC Nigeria on 1st December, 2020.

His Lordship is the present Chairman of the Osun State Branch of the Nigerian Red Cross Society.

He has attended several seminars, workshops and conferences in Nigeria and overseas.

His literary works include:

  • Application of the Rules of International Humanitarian Law to Non-International Armed Conflicts in Nigeria (Ph.D Thesis).
  • The Response of International Humanitarian Law to the Armed Conflicts in Rwanda (M.Phil Thesis).
  • Conflicts Resolution in International Law: A Case Study of ECOWAS Monitoring Group – ECOMOG’s Intervention in the Liberian and Sierra Leonean Crises (LL.M Long Essay)

He is married with children.
